AWBD Trustee Election
The Water Users Coalition Advisory Council recently met on June 12, 2017, and determined the need to advise the Coalition membership of the upcoming AWBD Trustees election. The Annual Conference of the Association of Water Board Directors, to be held in Corpus Christi, starts June 22 and ends June 24. The Advisory Council believes that this year’s contest is most important to the future direction of the Association, and the membership should take every opportunity to become as well informed as possible on the five candidates, for the three AT Large Trustee positions.
The Advisory Council recommends that members should attend the June 23rd General Session to hear the candidates speak. Additional information on the candidates appears in the Summer 2017 edition of the Journal, on page 56, and can be reviewed beforehand. Additional opportunities for meeting the candidates exist during the Thursday evening “Welcome Reception” along with the various activities until the polls close Friday at 2:30 PM.
The Advisory council understands the extra effort involved in becoming an informed voter and we recommend that members take advantage of the times when candidates will be out during Friday morning seminars and through the luncheon to speak with them. So, if you have a question about their opinions on an Association topic, engage the candidates to further your knowledge of their positions. Then have your organizations representative cast your vote. Remember, all Association MEMBERS are eligible to cast one vote for each At Large Trustee position, so please exercise your organization’s franchise.
