One of the most important current issues facing the Municipal Utility District (MUD) community is the potential shift of responsibility from the counties to the water districts; such as repairs and maintenance of storm sewers and roads. Be aware of the use of buzz words such as “partnership & infrastructure upgrades” coming from the counties. This will start as a simple project to improve drainage and will end up with the Water Districts sharing the cost of all repairs and maintenance “deemed an upgrade” by the county. This is a slippery slope that the MUD community cannot afford to go down!
Please consider joining our efforts to build awareness and support to oppose any effort by the Texas Legislature to shift responsibility of the cost of maintaining roads or related facilities, including storm sewers, from counties to water districts. Several WUC members will be circulating a Resolution in Austin, seeking signatures supporting the Association of Water Board Directors- Texas, Legislative Principle No. 10. 85th Regular Session 2017.
Thank you for your support,
Water Users Coalition

Water Users Coalition
Please consider signing this Resolution to help the Water Users Coalition members build awareness and support to oppose any effort by the Texas Legislature to shift responsibility of the cost of maintaining roads or related facilities, including storm sewers, from counties to water districts, (AWBD Journal Fall 2016).
Association of Water Board Directors – Texas, Legislative Principle No. 10. 85th Regular Session 2017
AWBD opposes any effort to shift responsibility of maintenance for roads or related facilities, including storm sewers located within the road right of ways or within related easements dedicated to the public or a county, from counties to water districts.
As a member of the Association of Water Board Directors, “AWBD” – Texas, and a Texas resident, I hereby declare my desire for all Texas legislators to support AWBD principle No.10.
Please sign below if you support this resolution.
